There is no need to rage about the Ryder Cup ticket prices. There is only a small chance you’ll need to pay them.
The biennial match between Europe and the USA is one of the most exciting events in the sport and one of the rare occasions when the thrills and spills of match play is showcased around the world.
The top tier nature of the event is one reason for why ticket prices are so high ($750 a head) and it is also a reason why you are so unlikely to secure a ticket. The deadline has passed to register interest in getting them, so let me explain a little more.
AceOdds says 750,000 fans registered interest in the 2023 edition at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome and assuming the demand is similar for Bethpage in New York, there is a one-in-20 chance you’ll find yourself with a day ticket in Long Island.
40,000 tickets are likely to be allocated per day and AceOdds reports that the probability of earning one is around 5% (the short version of one-in-20). If the capacity squeezes to 50,000, the chances of getting a day ticket are increased to 6.43%.
There is a best case scenario according to AceOdds which says you have around a 19% chance of getting a ticket for all three days if the capacity stretched to 50,000 fans per day. One in five fans could get allocated a ticket via the Random Selection Process.
Altogether, if 120,000 tickets were sold across the three-day event, the probability of getting any ticket is as low as 15.42%. The gist of this is don’t get your hopes up, but there is still a chance.

Ryder Cup ballot chances are nothing new in golf
These numbers aren’t news to many of you who have tried and failed (and succeeded) in getting Ryder Cup tickets in the past.
They also aren’t news to anyone who has wanted to attend big sporting events, or popular culture events in general (the 2025 Oasis tour being a case study) and has failed in their pursuit.
Demand leads to a process by watch we all throw our names in the pot and see what happens. The Open Championship has taken this route given its evolution into a financial monster that hosts a quarter of million spectators. This is new the standard, like 300-yard drives.
Before I worked in the industry, I was able to attend the delayed 2021 Open at Royal St.George’s by gaining early access and purchasing a weekend ticket.
It was even easier 10 years before when I watched Darren Clarke win The Open. There was no doubt in me or my family’s mind that we weren’t going to Sandwich. Tickets were just a few clicks away.
A weekend ticket to The Open is like gold dust now and a ticket for the Ryder Cup has had this aura for even longer.
